Our Vision and Values

Jelly Bears is a warm homely environment, providing a safe, happy, caring, secure and stimulating place where your child will have fun, learn and grow. We are committed to, and support our families through strong partnerships, valuing each child and respecting their family and background, striving to give them complete peace of mind, whilst being seen as a shining example of what a quality day nursery should be.

We want to help all our children prepare for the future and to look warmly back at their experience with us and remember it as a cherished part of their childhood.

Our Curriculum

The interests of the children is what influences our everyday set up for each individual child. In order for our children to learn best, we offer engaging and stimulating experiences of interest that keep them involved, focussed and willing to learn. Getting to know each child during their settling-in sessions and through information shared by their parents or carers is key and continuing to know and explore how each child learns enables us to ensure that they reach their full potential.

We provide well-planned, quality learning experiences, both indoors and out, based on the children’s current interests and fascinations. Our highly qualified and experienced team are passionate and caring and will support all children to learn with enjoyment whilst providing them with challenge. We ensure that children have a balance of child-initiated and adult-led play based learning experiences and we provide exciting ideas for activities so parents and carers can share in their child’s learning at home.

We use the Early Years Foundation Stage as our statutory framework and it is fully embedded in all aspects of nursery life. We aim to give children skills for life within the wide range of learning experiences we offer. We include fun, hands-on opportunities such as gardening – learning how to grow and care for fruit and vegetables; cooking – using simple ingredients and following recipes to make bread, pizza and fruit salads whilst also learning how to make a sandwich! We develop a love of reading from an early age, using new and familiar words to extend and enrich each child’s vocabulary and we encourage our families to share this at home; we provide opportunities to be curious, to investigate and explore; to make decisions and solve problems. We find out about people who help us and learn ways to keep ourselves healthy and safe; we encourage children to be considerate and confident learners, to share and take turns, to form positive friendships, to be respectful, have good manners, to show kindness and be a good friend.
